When I changed my stock header for my DC headers! Shot some WD-40 on the bolt and let is set for 15 minutes. Disconneted the sensor and took of the header with the sensor still attached. It twisted right off! Had to SMOG it this year, replaeced it back to stock and did the same process again. SMOG my car and the sensor passed with flying colors! Hope this helps! Shouldn't hurt it if you don't over spray to much!

use some wd-40.....get a good 7/8 wrench and take your time with it. have someone hold the header for you so you can use 2 hands to get it off w/o stripping it......

i also sprayed/cleaned mine with brake clean and it helped me get a few more miles to the tank....

Auto parts stores sell an 02 socket for under $10. Pretty handy if you intend to do this a couple of time.

well i already got my header out of the car and its lying on my garage floor with the o2 sensor still in it. I've shot wd-40 on it let it sit and its still not friken comming out. I'm using a vise grips and its starting to strip the nut. How easy is it if i get the actual wrench?

i'm almost ready to just go buy a new sensor

I bought the 02 wrench. It's a socket with an opening for the wires. I couldn't get either of mine to budge. WD-40 has never worked for me, I usually use PB blaster; but when I was trying to get mine out, I forgot to bring it. I'm going to try it again this weekend; but I'm not expecting any great results.

How long did you let it set when you shot the WD-40? Give it some time to settle and sink in. The bolt is an direct fit for the sensor.

wd-40 sometimes works...
o2 remover socket sometimes works...

if you're looking to replace the sensor, just cut the wires and use a regular deep socket and air impact wrench...

i let the wd-40 sit for like 20 minutes.. need it to sit mroe????

someone also suggested heating it till the socket is almost redhot and then twist it out. Good or bad idea?

I plan on running my car for a while to heat it up. Then remove the plastic splash guard after jacking up the frontend. Use a long open ended wrench and maybe even a pipe to fit over it for more torque. This means leaving the header on the car.

i think im just going to buy a new one... i clamped the vise grips on as tight as i could get them and i started jumping on the vise grips and the sensor didn't f*cking budge. This is after useing wd-40 for a combined hour and a half.....wtf!!! feels like it was welded on!!

there goes 60 dollars

This works the best and Im suprised everybody didn't suggest it. Before you remove the header off the car remove the 02 when its hot. It will come right out.

Since you have the header off already, take it to an exhaust shop and have them use the torch to heat it up and it will slip right out. Its called the FIRE WRENCH!~

Hmmm......Well getting is hot make sense, just don't heat it up to much! Hope things go better?

I would let the WD40 sit overnight. I couldn't get my cat to midpipe bolts to budge after soaking them for an hour or so, but the next day they came right out.

Gents. WD-40 is a lubricant and NOT a penetrant. I'm using 3-in-1 penetrant not 3-in-1 oil. Good luck.

yes, put your header back on, a little pb blaster, and use a nice breaker bar and it should come out with no problem... a long torque arm is your friend.

Oh and get the o2 socket from autozone, its a loaner piece and you will get your money back when you return it.

Use the vise grips or a wrench and hammer(rubber mallet would be best) the end of the wrench making it like your own ghetto impact wrench. Using a pipe would make it better for leverage. Might not work but your starting to run out of easy options.

let it run and the exhaust heat up so the o2 bung expands, it makes it eaisser, PB Blaster is a good buddy to have too

7/8" wrench did the trick for me, without any penetrating liquid. I bought an O2 sensor socket, it didn't fit into the crevice on the OEM header. Down $10.

thanks for all the help... I tried everything suggested...no luck...went out and bought a new sensor from autozone. Made my life a lot easier. once i got the new sensor i got the header on in only a little bit. Is there a torque speck the nuts should be at where the header connects to the engine blcok? I don't have an owners manual so i can't look there
