I am now a proud member of the Jap club... !
Hello all,
After 2 years of owning a ford ZX2, please dont comment, made great power after ALOT of modifications. anyway, I got a great deal I could NOT pass up on my new 1994 Honda Civic DX SOHC 1.5L .
Now I am going to be visiting Honda-Tech alot now. As the Ford is Much different, much more difficult to mod, I am now attempting to restor and nod this honda now.
So I need everyones help. Right now I am trying to buy everything new and restor the motor , get it running good before i attemt to do anything. So far I have got new plugs, Thermorstat, oil change, upper Radiator hose, Fuel filter and air filter. Right now I am having a missfire problem. I took the distributar cap off and cleaned the corrosion off the terminals, and car still runs on 3 cylinders. not a big deal, I say its most likey the wires/cap,rotor. I will replace all that . The ECU will throw a code if it were the Disributar, correct?
Anyway, I was wondering, what are some cheap mods I can do to the SOHC motor untill I decided if I am going to do a motor swap or boost this motor? For Example, on the Ford there was a Mod called the "Pots Mod" is basically a 50k Ohm Resistor(s) wired into the ECT and AIT sensors, when fully cranked, I dynoed at 10WHP for a 10.00 Mod.
I am also lookimng at putting a cone air filter on the intake tube and ditching the air box. I already removed the resonators. I wired the Cooling fan to constant on. Anyother Tips, suiggestions, opinions here?
Thank you to Honda-Tech.com For making a great site!

you have 2 options for power....
1.Turbo what you have. you can make some decent power from a d15
2. Swap in a B series. Reliable power, not as fast as a turbo D but way more potential.
as he said above, search.

Hey now watch it, you'll get mixed opinions about the turbo d vs b series
My jdm b18c with boltons and skunk 2 im, b16 tranny walked all over a turbo coupe (d16y8) running 8lbs.. not much boost, but i felt really good after beating a turbo'd honda..
To the original thread poster:
I'd save money and then start picking out which motor you want from http://hmotorsonline.com

No there are no $10.00 easy mods to make a D15B7 faster.
Injectors, throttle body, etc. - none of that will help the D15B7 engine.
My honest advise is swap out that D15B7.

Re: (zx2gotboost)
where is the H love?? Just how fast do you want to go?? If you don't mind being a 13 sec. car then by all means turbo the D. If you want some faster times then that, you should probably swap out the D for a B, H, or even K depending on your wallet...

The reason the $10 easy mod works to make that power is because 95% of the ECUs that the ZX2s came with aren't tuned for ****. Their stock power output can easily be bumped 13~15hp @ peak just from a good tune.
Personally I would go with a k20a2 swap into the thing, that motor has caught my attention for sure

k20a2?...why not put in the extra money for a k20a?

Because the K20A2 swap will end up costing over $7,000.00 as it is, while the Type R can easily get you at the $9,000.00 mark.

Re: (vancoland)
The k20a2 is the RSX Type S engine isn't it? (still learning all the engine codes lol) That would be quite a beefy upgrade for a little d15 coupe.
