Default HX boys - what gains can be seen from ex mani???

My friend is selling his ex manifold to me for 25.00 and I always see people saying to throw the ex mani on the y5. Honestly what gains can I expect from the manifold.

I felt a difference bolting up the y8 manifold. A little less acceleration at the bottom but much better pull up top.

The hx and ex manifolds have similar shape but I wonder what differences in wiring and installing are different between the two? Did you ever get a updated time in the 1/4 with the new intake mani on there Bauley?

Um I never swapped manifolds (the link above wasnt mine)...when I did my mini-me the head had the IM attached to it...so I've had a Z6 head/manifold the whole time

Um, no. The Y8 i believe is much better than the Z6.

Is it worth the time and effort to put the z6 on instead of the y5?

the z6 is a good IM. But the Y8 is considered the type R mani for the D series. I has Shoet fat runners and that is the only noticable diff betwwen the two.

I was just wonderin how much an increase the z6 intake mani would be compared to my y5? I wish I had the y8 manifold but im getting the z6 for $25.00.

"Yo my boy is gonna give me ex headers" Can you sound any dumber? First of all...as stated above the Y8 manifold is the "type R manifold" for D-series...so wouldnt that be the one to use? I put an EX exhaust manifold on my DX and didn't notice too much of a difference...i'd spend the money on a DC 4-1 or a high-end bisimoto or smsp HEADER.

hey hxvtec, have you had a chance to see how much your ex tranny has helped out your times in the quarter? I just installed mine but have not had a chance to run it yet.

Besides that...I was knocked back to 98% for being a dick...and then after many apologies and talking and with Tom and George Knighton they said i'd get my 100% back and somehow I ended up with 101%

I just got this picture off ebay of a D16Y5 HX manifold:

From here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...14666
Also confirmed here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...08749

Now here is a D16Y8 manifold (the type R manifold for D-series):

Are they the same?????

If the Y5 and Y8 manifolds are the same...and the Y8 manifold is the best D manifold...I'd throw that Z6 manifold in the garbage!
