Re: Hp At the wheels? (ultimatehonda)
i was reading in SportCompactCar that the normal loss from supposed stock horsepower is about 10-15hp. Which means every stock motor is never what it's supposed to be. That's gotta suck.

Basically you're engine is sucking hot transmission air with a short ram. I learned that the hard way so i used my short ram and my stock intake to make a cold air. It's easy and you don't have to spend any more money. Or you could box off the short ram... up to you.

its called parisitic loss, and it is incurred threw your accesories, ie, power steering, the wheels spinning, all these suck power from an engine, most honda's are around 15%, some of the new ones like the rsx are closer to 12%

so having a short ram makes me loose power????
Standard gains with a cone filter are 2-3 whp.

for a stock b16a with a 3" intake, it will cause it to lose torque. go with a 2.5" intake from aem instead. It will work better for a stock motor. There is only so much air a motor can breath.. and the motor needs pressure to gain torque.

I'm with Brian, I have short ram w/ the extender, I can feel no difference between the two, and I prefer the sound of the short ram.
