yeah... this has got to be the strangest thing yet on HT...

A plastic bag apperantly got stuck and melted on my exhaust yesterday... it is a stock exhaust, and is melted on the tube, not muffler/res/etc..

I wouldnt care too much if it was not making a burning rubber/plastic smell, which I guarantee is not healthy.. at first I thought I had electrical problems..

So how would I go about cleaning this thing off? It is basically white gunk on the tube now, and I am afraid that even if I get under there, cleaning with something abraisive will make it rust soon/er

(or hidden answer #2, just don't idle, drive around for a while, and let it burn to ash? not sure if that is safe or possible though)

scrape it off, not real complicated or just flame it, its yuour exhaust its gunna rust

just scrap it off with something, the stock exhaust has no coating that **** is gonna rust through anyway

I had the same problem but it actaully happened to my brand new header, talk about being pissed. Well I asked around and people were just saying to let it burn off so if you do end up with some good info please pass it on.

Use a Brillo pad while the piping is still warm.

Ive done that a few times, also lacqer thinner will take it off pretty good too with the pad or a rag.

Gunk Away or some other product of that sort, either that or it will just burn up.
