How wide is too wide?
Hello,
Total Newbie when it comes to Hondas, but trying to come over from Subarus. Anyways, I was wondering if there are any good sites,threads (yes I've searched), or advice on how large/wide/offset of a wheel I can use on a 92-95 Civic?
Common wheel offset, bolt patterns, anything I can learn. Thanks
Looking at a set of 15x7's, but wanting to know a LOT more than what I know now before I spend some cash. Thanks.

I just got a set of Konig Heliums with Falken Azenis on my 92 Si. The wheels are 15x6 1/2 +40mm offset and the tires are 205/50/15. I have it dropped almost 2 inches. I had to roll the rear fenders in to keep it from rubbing. The front is fine. Plenty of room. If you go wider, you are going to need a little more offset. If you add camber to make more room, you are going to eat up tires and mess with the handling. Good luck.

Are there a standard offset for most Honda's?..or is this a platform specific matter?
4x100, isnt that for US spec models, or are some USDM's 5-bolts (excluding ITR's)?
Just for ***** and giggles, is there a standard pattern for 5-lugs?

i don't know about 4 x 100 being just an american thing but it's common for civics and 5 lugs for hondas are usually 5 x 114...

you can run and 8 inch wide wheel but you will need to get a farily low offset.
the offset in the low 30's, will ALL need fenders rolled unless you run you car really high and with stiff stiff supension
here is my car with 15x6.5 +32 offset.
you can run lower offset's but you run into problems with wheel's clearing and getting the mexican effect, with out some fender flares.
honda's come with
5x114.3 (ITR's some accords ect)
4x114.3 (some preludes, some accords ect)
4x100 (civic's, integra's)
common offsets for FF honda's range from +42 threw +50
its preatty hard to find rims with low offset for honda's in the 4x100 bolt pattern now they do exisist but not alot of other cars share this bolt pattern and if they do they utilize +40 or higher offsets. witht he 4x114.3 and 5X114.3 there are MANY other cars that use these offsets many of them RWD so it gives you the chance to get soem nice low offset wheels.

I thought that offset dealt with the center of rim/ hub contact to the outward edge of the rim. Given this idea, wouldnt a low offset set the wheels farther inward towards the chasis? Am I totally backwards? Please continue...

camber helps handling and will not eat up your tires as long as you have the TOE set to factory spec.

I think he's talking in specifics when running with a 30's offset, not in general terms.

i got 16s with 205/45/16 no camber kit sotck offset as far as i know and it doesnt rub at all lowered like 1.5" (aftermarket suspension tho)

the lower the offset (in + number the closer to zero you get) the futher out the will is pushed (givening you a wide stance. the higher the + number the closer in the wheel will set.
so ya you've got it back wards.
15x7 w/ a +40mm offset is fine alot of people run it, there is nothing wrong with that, me personally i would like something iwht a lower offset, but thats just me.
