How to roll back speedo???
I am thinking about buying a used CTR gauge cluster with 23,000 km on it. I want to roll it back because I am getting a brand new swap and want to start the speedo fresh.
Does anyone know how to do this without breaking it?
Oh, and I am not doing this to rip anyone off.
Thanks in advance...

Re: How to roll back speedo??? (MiGs)
I just got a spoon cluster and it has 7800 km on it. I just want to roll back the speedo because I am putting a new engine in my EK.
I realize that some people will do this for different reasons then me, but I figure they will do it whether or not someone posts a response here.
Hope that makes sense....
BTW MiGs, I just IM'd you...

Re: How to roll back speedo??? (Spade)
You guys do realize that when you take the car in for emissions they write down the milage..and if you take it back the following year with less milage then before..you camn get busted and it is put in the record of the car?

So is there a way to roll back this Spoon cluster? I don't want to swap another speedo. I just want to roll the numbers back...

Re: How to roll back speedo??? (fifthgearonline)
i heard its possible but i'm not sure "how" a friend of mine told me he tried it once and theres some tamper measure on it that breaks the teeth or someting to that affect if you try to spin it backwards. along those lines of though maybe its possible to roll te odomer forward to 999,999 miles so when you plug it in it will go to 0 again. this is just an idea. i did read of this guy that was having trouble w/ his jdm eg cluster and he ended up taking it apart and he did state he figured out how to roll the miles back.

Spade: You cant use the excuse that you did a swap with the officials...
Just because the engine is "new" doesnt make the car new.

Re: How to roll back speedo??? (spoonek9)
Well I know how to do it. When I went to get my car smogged I told the guy that my old gauge cluster broke and I had to replace it. BUT If you want to roll back the odometer on a JDM cluster to match your engine milage, It will be off. The JDM clusters clock in kilometers, not miles. At least thats how the eg clusters are. Not too sure on the ek.
