How often do you change your filter on your AEM CAI
Ive had my AEM cold air intake for like a year and a half and have never changed the air filer...how often are you suppose to change it...
if you already have..did you just buy a new filter and put it on or can you just dust it off

You sure its okay to just spray it like that then put it back on?
I was thinking of just buying a new filter for it and putting it on, but i guess i can save the 50 bucks and just clean my current one

You use the K&N filter cleaner kit.
I changed mine immediately in favor for an Apexi filter, better filtering, more flow. So that's how often I change mine.

Last time I cleaned my filter, it didn't come out white like the first time I cleaned it. It was sort of grey looking, and I couldn't get it any cleaner. Has anyone else had this problem?

Actually, according to AEM the oils catch the most dirt when it's kinda dirty. I wouldn't clean it too much. Just look at it every now and then. If it looks really bad...charge it. I have had my CAI for over 2 years and I charge it about once a year.

Go and spend the $10 for the K&N Filter recharger. Comes with a filter cleaner, and oil so you can reoil it after cleaning it.

you don't want it white that means that there are no oils to catch all the particals, get the recharger kit and reoil that filter.

No, what I meant was that after using the cleaner for the K&N kit, the filter was greyish in color. The first time I cleaned it, it went white, then oiled it, and it was a nice bright maroonish color from the oil. This time I cleaned it twice, and the filter was still a greyish color, so I oiled it up anyway, and re-installed it. Just wondering what everyone elses lookes like when they clean it before oiling.

You've had it on for that long and never cleaned it???? JESUS.
The whole point of a having a oil gauze reusable filter is just that. Clean it and reuse it. I clean mine everytime I change my oil. Bang off the loose particles. Then spray with a hose. Soak with cleaner for 10 min. Spray off and re-oil. Good as new.

LOL I have had the same filter on since january of 03 and never took it off to clean it. Looks fine to me.
My old oem filter was all sludgy and ****, and lets not get on the weapon r intake.
I plan on replacing that whole system anyways.

I have a no name brand cone air filter (another story) and I recently washed it for the first time after 12 months of usage. It is not CAI, just SRI. So not as bad, has fine dusts build up around the cone part so I just rinsed it with water and let dry, and use compress air can to dust it off a little more.
Didn't use any cleaning kit. I am a bit lazy on that aspect.
