I have a 96 Honda civic ex 4dr auto that i just had an engine swapped with a d16a sohc non vtec and im getting about 350 km-400 km on one full tank is that good?, Is it because the tanks on these are small? I drive at around 3500 rpm could that be the problem?

Ive been reading other post on different forums and people get like around 500km, if its the engine that I got swapped in should I go back to the place I get the engine from and tell them?

i have a b18c in a vx, i get gas when i hit 300 miles on a tank.

i dont know all the km crap
but i arverage around 250 300 a tank. it also depends on the type on gas you use
the higher octane the slower it burns= better mpg.
but im confused why you would take a vtec motor out and put a non vtec in????

i have a 98 DX and i usually get about 500-550 per 35 litres of gas.. when Im travelling to see my fiancee, I get 500km per 27 litres of gas. I believe that our tanks are 40L tanks

that is around town, when im on the highway i can get well over 400mile to a tank. crusing around 65-75mph

This is my first car ever so im new to civics or cars in general lol, but yea ive been reading threads on doing mini me swaps but my car is automatic and adding vtec wouldn't really do much. This summer im planning on getting a 5th or 6th gen hb civic with manual then i will start doing stuff.

Depends on how in tune your setup is, what time of year it is, and driving habits.

My girlfriend's 97 DX manual coupe has gotten 40 MPG at best so far. This was without perfect distributor timing, stock exhaust and oxygen sensors, and 80 degrees F running about 65 MPH on the interstate. Other than that all of the other tune-up procedures have been done (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. etc.). Usually it will average 36-37 MPH between city and highway driving during the spring/summer/fall. In winter the gas mileage dips quite a bit, not only because you are letting the car warm up to defrost the windows but also because it's colder outside and the vehicle uses more fuel. During the winter her car averages about 33-34 MPG between city and highway driving. These are very solid numbers.

Obviously other models get different MPG. I've seen EG hatches that can get 45 MPG, but this is because they're super light and have a D15 and are usually base models (A/C only). The more weight, options, and less maintanence you add will only decrease gas mileage from there. Keep in mind that the earlier cars usually got better MPG than the later models due to less weight and smaller engines and less options. This is the reason the CRX HF can get 55 MPG - it had 0 options, no airbags/reinforcements, very small tires, small engine, no sound deadening, etc. It was a very very base car.

hmm.. i have a d16z6 in my dd.. although it is a manual so ill get better mileage than u but i get just short of 400 miles on one tank.. usually right around 380 give or take ten.

That's just a myth on the slower burning gas.. octane is just a number that measures resistance to detonation.

Also, I've noticed that a lot of people seem to think that Ethanol (89 octane) burns faster than regular (87 octane) because of it's 10% ethanol. Just to test this I ran 87 in my Daihatsu for a tank and got approximately 3 MPG less. Also tried the same in my girlfriend's 97 DX and got about 3-4 MPG less. Not sure if it was just because of the winter blend or something else though.

i get about 600km to a tank of gas, use 89 octane, and that is mixed city and highway.

I usually get around 600 - 650 kms to a tank, best I ever got was 670kms to a tank. It works out to around 40MPG (US gallons) or 50MPG (Imperial gallons)

In my 94 CX with a DX engine I get 39.7 MPG's mixed mostly city and 46.6 MPG's mixed mostly highway. Typically I am right in the middle of those two though. So on a full tank (10 US Gallons) I get roughly 390-460 miles.

And bonus, since the prices of gas are going down and im paying 1.829 a gallon, an entire fill up is less then 20 bucks!!

I average 38 mpg on 87 octane in a 1993 Civic Si with factory d16z6.
