^^, its both actually, however bad toe will wear a lot faster and will show more. But say around 1.5. But that will still decrease tire life some

toe causes a lot of these ripped up tires that people blame on camber.
i'd say 1.4 MAX, you will get too much toe after that. plus these cars don't really need too much of a drop to look good
when you align it just set the toe completely to 0 and you will be fine. all the times my tires got destroyed after and alignment is because i had a very lazy mechanic doing my alignment. found a different shop and now i have no tire issues

i dropped my eg 2 inches from stock height in front and 2 1/2 " in the rear. . . when i had my 13" steelies on it i noticed fast/uneven tire wear but oddly when i put 14" si wheels on it my tires wear even! i have never taken my car to a shop for an alignment! but i would not recommend dropping that much. . . . . i obviously got lucky somewhere

Re: how much can i drop w/out really messing up my camber
I dropped mine 2.5 inches all around, did an alignment on it 2 days later back in August 08 and I haven't had any tire wear issues, and I looked at them every few days becuase they were still pretty new tires. Remember though when you put lowering spring on your car the toe will be different then what it was before you put them on.
