How much brake fluid to buy for a fluid change?
I've been thinking about it and just realized, I have about 110,000 miles on the same brake fluid.
How much am I going to need to change the fluid out?

When flushing my system out with Ate Superblue, we used less than a litre. I'd say closer to 3/4s maybe, for an entire system flush. 1992 VX w/gsr brakes. I'd get a litre and just have it, it never hurts to bleed the brakes later down the line.

when I did mine (92 Si 4 wheel disc), I bought 2 500ml bottles, and used about 1.5 cause I bled the brakes quite a bit. BTW, I think once you open a bottle of brake fluid your not suposed to store it cause it goes bad (not sure if this applies to all).

I helped a buddy put some Valvoline synthetic in his VX w/ GSR brakes awhile back and that fluid had many miles on it. We used two of the great big bottles. Old **** was coming out the whole time. We made sure to get the very fresh fluid in there and do it the right way. We bled for probably 45 minutes. One guy pumping and the other letting it drain out and closing valve. The car felt so good after that though compared to before.

I used 1 liter last week to change my fluid... wouldn't hurt to have 2 liters on hand though just in case it takes a while to bleed.

Ok guys, Exactly what is the correct amount?
The Owners Manual calls for complete brake fluid change at 90,000 miles.
The procedure for changing brake fluid is to start at the furthest caliper and bleed a specific amount of fluid to clear the master cylinder, lines and caliper. Bleeding can be done in any order. Different vehicles call for different amounts.
I have another car that calls for complete change every year. It specifies 800 cc per caliper (80 cc for bleeding). I have a power bleeder that makes it fast and easy.
The question reamins, what is the proper amount for a Civic?

Re: Ok guys, Exactly what is the correct amount? (Del Sol Man)
My 96-00 helms says that you bleed the brakes in the following order :
RR, LF, LR, RF
Also, as people have stated, to do a complete fluid change, it takes almost one full litre.
Well, more like 2/3 to 3/4, but best to have at least one litre on hand.

I used less than 1 litre for the brakes and clutch; even with having to rebleed one corner.

No one knows the factory specification? No techs out there?
Thanks for the estimates but there is a specification. Please remember I am talking about brake fluid Change, not bleeding.
I spent a couple of years using 2 litres for my other car until I found it takes 3.2 litres to clear the lines. With fluid loss on the power bleeder it takes me 4 litres to do the job acording to the factory recommended procedure. Sorry to be so specific but I figured someone would know.
