What exactly is a spliter?

I'd suggest checking sites like:
http://www.inlinefour.com
http://www.dmhondaparts.com

Sounds like something they might have.

it allows air to move faster under the car. when the air traveling under the car is faster than the air traveling over the car, downforce is created.

It could be that Im half asleep but that sounds like the exact opposite of downforce.

I was thinking the same thing.

I was thinking the same thing.
Fast airflow = lower pressure
Normal airflow = higher pressure

Higher pressure is like more weight, therefore it creates downforce. That's as dumbed-down a way to put it as I can conceive

This is why an airplane's wing has a more severe curve on the top of the foil. It forces air to travel faster, thus lowering pressure above the wing, thus creating lift.

yeah, having air move faster under the car than over the car, sucks the car to the ground. airplane wings are the opposite, air travels faster over the top than the bottom.

well im sure it has a perpose as Roger Foos Eh hatch had one on it. im kinda lost on his hole theroy of down force too. but if air goes really fast under car that doens't neccassarly create lift you have to get more air under then over....... so maybe it just streem lines it through.. i will shut up now

most of those cars you see with functional splitters have undertrays too

ie. Realtime R's

a flat peice of carbon fiber/fiber glas that seals off the bottom of the car. it makes the under side of the car flat so air can move even faster.

The R34s have something similar to this, as does the 350Z (I don't think all of the models have it though).
