How Many EG Hatches are Left?
Or EH2 or whatever. Not necessarily expecting a serious or accurate answer, but just some chit-chat.
I feel like I don't see nearly as many 92-95 hatchbacks anymore, especially the Si model. I'd be willing to wager a lot of them have been ruined by bad ownership/modifications, wrecks, etc.
In highschool 7-8 years ago I used to see a few around my own small city. Now I hardly see them anywhere, in larger cities or even the few times I've gone to other states.
Am I exaggerating or have other people noticed this too? I feel like my Si has become a bit of a gem in terms of rarity...

Re: How Many EG Hatches are Left?
I know of a dozen or so in my city here in Canada. Ottawa, Ontario. Some are clean, some are rough and rusty.
Personally, I'm at the point where I will need to do body work in the near future to fix the rust holes in the rear wells. But considering the cost of repairs and paint, I am highly considering looking for something newer (rust free) in either a late nineties GSR Integra or SiR (Si) Civic.
As much as I love the chassis and the style of the 92-95 civics. I'm afraid they are becoming harder to find because people don't want to invest into keeping them in. It's hard to justify dropping thousands of dollars on repairs for a 25+ year old car.

And yeah, I think you're right about that... I bought my Si for $3000 in pretty rough shape (only one registered previous owner though), and have already spent roughly $5000 on restoration in paint, bodywork, and fixing the things that were broken. Still a long way to go as well for my goals, but that's beyond the restoration point.
The only direction for 90s tuner cars are to keep getting more rare... If anything ever were to happen to my Civic I'd either break down and buy a newer car, or purchase a legitimate EG6 from a reputable importer. Finding clean EG's in the US has become almost impossible (maybe only a couple for sale at a time across the country).

95% of them are ragged out by idiots who have no sense of style.
- Gutting the interior
- Spray painting the outside with black primer
- Slammed on cut springs
- "semi-wire tuck" but don't have a clue how to solder

Still have my 1995 civic si ...
.Need front and rear bumper but trying to avoid aftermarket ones due to fitments.
Kept it pretty pretty stock looking.. with the original motor and interior.

Really disappointing because I feel like the chassis and platform have so much more to offer than what most people really tap into. People are too lazy to build them properly so they just gut everything, leaving SRS/Check engine lights on, etc etc...

Re: How Many EG Hatches are Left?
I've actually seen 3 different 3000GT's around Austin just in the last like 4 days, which surprises me. Two of them were actually pretty clean looking too, was neat.
I think the communities in Texas have a tendency to ruin Hondas faster by poor modding, low budgets, and a complete lack of effort or research. I almost never see other EG's here. EF hatches even seem to be a bit more common, as well as EK's (EK coupes/sedans, or EG sedans are still everywhere).

Re: How Many EG Hatches are Left?
There's only 4 left where I am, and I own 3 of them. Here in Atlantic Canada rust got most of them. If not for that I think there would still be quite a few on the road.

Re: How Many EG Hatches are Left?
I still have mine. Not slammed but on better suspension, 100% stock interior that is 98% there an in good condition. Mods would be a k-swap...other than that pretty nice eg and I agree...barely ever see something similar driving around.

I see one on my commute home. His smokes when he gets on it and always has the windows down since he has no ac.
