How loud is the ES Oval Universal Muffler
Was wondering just about how loud is the ES Universal Muffler? I have had a Greddy EVO before and currently have a nice quiet RS-R on my GSR but i want a ES Oval for my EG6 for fitting on a B16A2. My friend has a Apex WS, so i need to know out of these listed which is it closest too.

Re: How loud is the ES Oval Universal Muffler (JDM knowledge)
Most likely the GReddy Evolution because the RS*R and WS are chambered. Unless you use a shitload of resonators or mufflers (used as resonators), the ES will still be loud because of its straight-through design.

not to hijack but would this be too much of a bottleneck for a turbo (2.5" piping, w/ resonator & cat)? i've heard it's damn quiet... and cheap too

i have the es oval with 2.25" piping, no cat, resonator, and rs*r 4-2-1...its loud as ****. Wasn't too loud when I didn't have a test pipe and the header though.

Another Hijack (sorry)
Where can I get the Es oval muffler? Do most people get that muffler because it looks stock or does it actually have some performance benefits?

Here is my setup.
JDM ITR 4-1, flange, 2.5in carsound cat, 2.5 axle back custom exhaust, es oval 2.5 inlet/outlet. It can be somewhat loud. But for how large my exhaust is it is very very nice. Even with a stripped interior. Rating on 1 - 10. 1 being stock, 10 being Apexii N1 , I would give my setup a 6. With smaller diameter exhaust, it would be 5. I hope this helps...
EDIT: I used to run an N1, I lost a lot of hearing, damn that thing is ricey...

yea it offers performance benefits with catback piping..its a straight thru muffler design.

You can find it at Inline4, JDMhondaparts, and ES directly.
I got mine because it's very low profile, not very attractive to cops. It's a straight through designs, so no more beneficial than any other straight through muffler.

Re: How loud is the ES Oval Universal Muffler (rodrez)
they aren't loud at all. a short ram intake, or a regular CAI will be WAAAYY louder then the muffler. this is with 2.25 and a cat no resonators or anything

Not from what I have heard. But then that was a on a B18C with 2.5 no cat. straight through.
I would highly recommend adding some resonators since they don't impeed flow that much anyways.

Is it just straight piping, or do you use some kind of resonator? You can get a resonator welded inline on the exhaust piping, or use some mufflers (or just one muffler) to act like a resonator. That will help keep things down. I've seen a few pics where people use two tiny round mufflers (not sure what they're called but Summit Racing carries them) to act like resonators. They say it works pretty well.

Re: How loud is the ES Oval Universal Muffler (JDM knowledge)
This is an old vid from a year ago. It will D/L in less than a minute, it will give you an idea of what it sounds like straight through. I had 2.5" mandrel bends and no resonator or cat.
