How to: EK ITR Sway Beaks Kit Install
I took the liberty of making this post about installing a Integra Type-R 22mm sway bar on your 96-00 civic EK hatchback. I'm sure it does work for all civics though. I hope that I clear up any small confusions on the beaks kit with an EK.
Before we begin the installation, this is my warning to be safe!
Wear safety glasses when drilling. Most importantly, jack you car up and use jack stands! You can't enjoy your sway bar with blindness or no head. Please, be safe.
Now first, this is all the stuff you need to put the sway bar on your car
1 - ITR Rear sway Bar
2 - ITR D-Brackets and Bushings
2 - 99/00 Civic Si Endlinks
1 - Beaks Kit
You can call Will @ Beaks and he can get you all this for a good price for everything. What the Beaks kit does (for those who dont know) is prevent your subframe from ripping out. That meaty 22mm sway bar will rip right with out proper reinforcement. Beaks reinforces it, prevently any ripping
Tools you will need:
13mm and 14mm Socket
5mm Hex Key
Ratchet
Drill with 3/8s bit
Hammer
Tq Wrench
Allrighty, here we go:
First I jacked up the car and use jack mounts to properly secure the car. Also, put the car in gear and place something in front of the front tires. I used cement blocks. Rolling car would be a bad thing. Next I took the Beaks kit and mounted the bolt and plates on the TOP bolt only. I let it hang straight down, and them marked off the spot to drill. Yes, you have to drill. You can see the X here.
Now to make it easier to drill, I took a hammer and punch to make an small indent so the drill, would drill.
I then drilled the holes with the 3/8s bit and vwolla, you have your second hole!
(I apologize for not having all the pics, my friend didn't take many after this, cause he was under there helping me out)
After drilling, get your ITR bar and put in Collars, and the endlinks.
Now, I was a bit confused here at this point, I wasnt sure which way to put the endlink in, but here is a picture, on what side bolts to what. Its pretty clear here, the 4 dotted end, goes to the bar
Pound the collars into the ends, and then bolt and tighten the nut to 30lbs. Now take the bar and endlinks and bolt the endlinks the proper way to the control arm.
Here comes the fun part, you now align the bolts and brackets and plates to mount the ITR bar to the subframe. After tinkering around, you should get this! (I used prothane brackets and bushings for my sway bar)
All aligned! Tighten the Endlinks nuts, and the swaybar bolts to 24lbs.
One more money shot including both!
Now go and test drive that EK of yours. You might get some oversteer, so don't smash it to hard till you get use to it.
I love the ITR bar on my EK, its one of the best suspension mod that ive done. Really increases responce and make its better to drive. Hope you all enjoyed the small write up and that NEW ITR SWAY BAR!!

Thanks for the informative write up....can you explain what the diffrence between oversteer and understeer exactly is? I have the basic idea but im not too sure of it.
Does it just mean that oversteer is that you get a quick response to the movement of the steering wheel and understeer the exact opposite or what?

He mentioned that you get understeer when you install the ITR rear bar. You're actually confusing it with over steer.
Oversteer: Tendency for the rear of the car to want to come around the from (fishtail) when you're going around a corner. A large rear bar will cause this.
Understeer: Tendency for the front of the car to slide or push when going into turns. A large front bar will cause this.

Hell yeah, Wil is genuinely a good guy. Whenever I have a question, or need something, he'll send it out to me... for free, even after I offer him money.
I am for sure going to him when I need my next Beaks kit.

You tq everything down, take it for a spin and re-tq it again.

Repost by me.
Excellent write up.
Thank you.
By the way, understeer is when you turn or brake.. you keep going forward. (plow).
Oversteer is when the rear of the car wants to step out of line on you when braking/cornering.
(Spin out).
