How do you remove the intake from '95 Civic SOHC?
I want to replace my factory intake with a high flow intake. I can't seem to reach the bolts underneath it. Can it be removed from the engine without removing the engine from the car? If so, is/are there tricks to doing this?
thanks!
thanks!

I am trying to replace the intake manifold. I have been trying to get sockets on the nuts and find a way to turn the wratchet. I was hoping that someone would have intimate knowledge of this process to share with me....

Um from what I remember there are 5 nuts that are visible from the top. Use a closed end wrench and turn em a little at a time. You can use a socket on some of them. Then on the underside there should be a brace connected by two bolts I beleive. You will have to do this from beneath the car. Then the coolant hoses, the the vacuum lines, then the fuel feed and return, and the injector clips. Remove the intake tube of course. The manifold should now come off unattached. Now remove the throttle body from your old mani, buy a new gasket to replace the old one, install throttle body and injectors onto new mani fold and repeat the steps in reverse. I dont think you need that brace on the bottom, I'm not using mine.

Oh yeah, make sure you replace the oem intake manifold gasket and stuff a cloth into the intake ports and use a gasket scraper to get all of the old gasket off. DO NOT get any debris in the ports.

The underside has no nuts other than those on the brace? How high up will I need to lift the car - I have not installed a lift in my garage yet.....

right, other than the ones visible from the top, 5 I think, there is only the brace. You should be able to get the car high enough with a floor jack. You only have to have it high enough to get underneath and reach up with a wrench. Dont forget the jackstands!
