How do you get gas odors out of carpet?
I was transporting a can of gas in the back of my hatch, and it spilt. Any ideas on getting rid of the smell? I tried scrubbing it with laundry detergent, but it still stinks......The reason for having gas in the back of my car was so I could put gas in my son's Neon...Who's run out of gas at least six times this summer....then, like a fool, I let him take my car out for his date ( young girls dig tricked Hondas)and he drives around like a fool with a can of gas in the back!...Ok I feel better now...I just needed to vent...

I'm not sure about hatches, but there should be some way that you can unbotton the carpet in the back. Take it out wash it really good and let it set out to dry for about 3-5 hours, then take a soapy sponge and wash the metal underneath where the carpet was. This is what I did when my car got damp in the back and it had that horrible mildew smell.
