You do not need the harness, but you do need the Vtec sensor plugs from a Vtec Harness. You could use a full EX or Si harness if you wanted to but you would have to splice into the Vtec wires before you hook it up to the chassis harness. You need to hook up the Vtec sensor directly wired into the ECU but i don't remember which spot you need to clip it in to. Search it cuz there are hundreds of write ups out there on how to do it.
Basically you just take the Vtec Sensor Harness plugs and splice a wire from that directly into the ECU, Pretty simple.
