i believe a google search would have worked....but you'll need the Z6, harness conversion from obd2 to obd1...and all the obd1 electronics (ecu, dizzy, alternator, etc)

Do you have the option of converting to OBD1? If so you'll have a lot less headaches. Answer that and I'll tell you what to do next. If you can't you'll have to do a bit of rigging to get it to work right.

u have to swap ur old oil pan ,crank sensor, oil pick up,oil pump from y8. you will need to rig up and bolt a knock sensor on or install your y8 head on the z6

It's the world's easiest swap. Everything plugs in. Everything bolts on.
I would re-use the intake/exhaust manifolds from your Y8 as those are better designed.
If you live in a state where every sensor needs to be present for emissions, you need a OBD2 D series oil pump housing to mount the CKF sensor to.
If you live in a state that just does plug in pass/fail emissions testing like IL, then you just need to use the CKF trick. You DO NOT need to convert to OBD1. You just need to fool the ECU into thinking that it has a CKF sensor. google "ckf trick". It's extremely easy.
Re-use your distributor and alternator. You'll need to do something about the knock sensor. There might be a threaded hole in the z6 block for you to mount your knock sensor. Mount it and plug it in so the ECU sees it's there.
That's about it. Easy sleazy.

Get obd2a-obd1 conversion harness p28 ecu the rest is plug and play as most d series parts are interchangable, I agree with B-Serious use your y8 exhaust manifold and intake manifold as they have better air flow and if its not to much trouble use the y8 transmission since it has same gears as z6 tranny but uses steel shift fork which holds up better than the z6 aluminum shift fork

Re: how do i swap d16y8 to d16z6
I understand this is old but I'm going to reply anyways because I'm doing this swap and forum after forum says the same crap...do a google search....how do yall think I got here google literally brings me here or a different forum saying the same thing do a google search. I'm going to build a d16z6 and then turbo it and I'm putting it into a 99 civic with a d16y8 currently I need to convert to obd1 regardless for tuning purposes so what do I need to complete this swap.
Now I think I need a obd2b-obd1 ecu conversion harness/jumper but what else need a jumper for the injectors also? Im New to this and Honda's in general can anyone drop a link to a newer thread maybe? I'm sorry if this is rude but I'm literally tired of wasting hours and hours on google when the whole point of these forums is to talk to people that know what I want to know. So I dont waste hours reading articles and other stuff that might have one sentence related to my question.
