Gotta pull the fuel fuse and keep turning over the car till it is on the correct position....

Note: I guess that screw is easy to stripe since mine was striped already the first time I went to take out my rotor.....still can't take it out....

DON"T MEAN TO POST JACK BUT: any idea how to take it off??

with the cap off just bump the key to get the starter to move the motor a li lbit at a time till u get the screw to where u can get at it easily.

could try a 19mm socket on the crankshaft and turn the motor till its in the right position.

i got it, i just turned the key til it lined up

best suggestion on the screw: use a rachet and screwdriver bit socket and then unscrew it like that... they are factory locked in damn tight

Needle-nose Vise-Grips. Worked for me.

the crank uses a 17mm socket...not a 19

The factory service manual specifies that the screw should be diamagnetic (i.e. non-magnetic, vs. ferromagnetic like steel). The best local hardware store didn't have exactly the right screw in stainless or brass, so I ended up going to the dealer. I picked the screw off the parts diagram on the computer.

Turns out that what I got was ordinary, magnetic steel. Turns out that the old screw was also ordinary steel. They seem to have worked fine, anyway.

I would, however, make sure that you don't make the screw magnetic, by using a magnetic screwdriver for example. I assume that it could interfere with the crankshaft/camshaft/TDC sensors in the distributor body.

There are accounts, here and on Usenet, of the rotor screw working its way out and trashing the distributor. I used Loctite on the screw to prevent this, although it probably means I'll need to use Vise-Grips again to get it out. Why can't they just use an Allen or Torx head?
