How do I make my OBD1 B16A an OBD2?
Hi, I'm new to the forums, and this is my first honda (converted from Nissanism)
Car: 1998 Civic EX Coupe
Engine: B16A (I believe its OBD1)
Current Set-Up: SOHC Vtec harness and ecu, custom fabricated to work with B16A.
Ok now that thats out of the way, what i want is to make my motor plug up to a B16 (EM1) harness and computer. The harness i have now is a complete Mess (but it gets the job done).
There are harnesses that don't connect to anything, just hanging loose, cut and taped up wire ends, you name its there. I just don't wanna risk a short or worse a fire under my engine bay, and say i wanted to degrease the engine, with all those harnesses laying around (some that i have yet to find).
So can I convert my OBD1 engine to plug up to an OBD2 harness? Will I still have plugs that wont connect or be compatible with my current engine?
Will all my power options (sunroof, windows, lighting, etc) in and out the vehicle work, even with a 99-00 civic si ecu?
I heard this is possible - making an OBD1 engine essentially OBD2 - by swapping out the distributor, oil pump harness plug, TPS harness plug, etc.
I have only gathered bits and pieces, but I would like a more concise and definitive answer (if possible).
Any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance.
