how to DIY get rid of the pos cardboard in thy trunk
1. take out the carpet and cardboard insert that keeps the carpet from sinking
2. get a sheet of 1/4 or 1/2 inch ply wood
3. lay the carpet down on top of it and trace around the carpet with a sharpie.
4. get a jigsaw and cut it out
5. now you should have a piece of plywood that looks like the shape of your carpet
6. depending on your year and model depends on where you cut it in half lenghtwise i had a speaker box in my car at the time so i cut across right in front of it.
7. put the pieces in for a test fit you may have to do some trimming i know i had to.
8. after you get the trimming done get some small hinges and screw them down with the two pieces in the car.
9. staple the carpet down and you are done.

haha. damn people. my trunk....actually my entire car is gutted. minus 2 seats and a dash. Sure im building it for a purpose, but i just didnt want the stuff in there. i dont see why its such a big deal to have or not to have.

if you rock your car gutted that's fine it's yours do with what you please, but if you get to the point where you strip the sound deadening out, prepare for some work and get a good chisel and heat gun haha

Nice. I feel dumb now because my trunk floor is split longitudinally instead of laterally like yours. Oh well. Also I have no carpet in my car! How do you like that 
And I happend to love the sound of a car with no carpet, deadening, etc. You can hear the engine and all the crap hitting your car just makes it more fun I think.
