mine is a 96 hx. i was able to fix mine. it took like 5 min to do once it clicked to me. there is no need to get another unit and swap them out. all you have to do is go under the dash where the vent select motor is you can find it buy turnning your car on and while you are under the dash drivers side. press the buttons and watch the motor swing the arm that controls the vents once you locate that all you have to do is take a phillips screwdriver and undo the arm. now that is off select the top vent and the motor will turn for the top vent now all you have to do is push up are down i cnt remember on that rod that is connected to the arm that was on the motor un till its blowing out of the top vent. once thats done you can put the arm back on the motor, if i remember right i had to pop that rod off and rotate the arm for it to work right. but basicly all your doing is readjusting the arm on the motor for it to work right. If you have r/c cars then you know what im talking about when your steering on the r/c car goes out of wack you have to readjust the servo and linkage to set it stright again. hope this helps.
