Default How to check engagement of shift selector

What connectors or wires do I check with an ohmmeter to get the reading with the brake is engaged. Describe how this can be done please. What settings do I put ohmmeter on?

You need to test the shift lock system.

Have you checked the fuses (#25 and #52) for this system?

I should get a reading from somewhere when the brake is applied.

It's not that simple as you have provided almost no information.

Yes I checked the fuses.
How?

And the shift lock system .
Is there a reason you are not providing any details here?

No reason at all. Please just ask me what I need to post to help you help me. I have the cover off the shift selector. I check the continuity of the connectors with the ohmmeter. I am getting a reading. But I am not getting a reading when I apply the brake. I am thinking whrn the brake is applied I should bea able to get a reading beacuse something is being activated. Sorry if I not describing the problem. .

One other thing. I just swapped the engine 98 in out of a 97. The wiring harness is very slightly different. I want to know is this the culprit.

There are two/three connectors to the shift selector that I check.

This^ information, and any other information relevant to the problem, should be part of the first post.

How did you test the fuses?

Have you done the tests below?

If the tests above prove fine, then do the shift lock tests below, especially the cavity 7 test.
