Default hot hatchie!!

i have a 95 civic si hatch... with an ls/vtec ctr pistons and ctr cams
the car's temp will skyrockett only when i get on it... i drove around town all day today witha nice 80 degree day.... i got to a spot with a nice straight and got on it... the instant i hit 4th gear i looked down and saw i was almost in the red... not all the way up... tut too high for my taste... the overflow... overflowed... and then the temp went back to normal before i got home..... any ideas???

are you using a vtec water pump? if you're using the ls one it spins too fast at about 8k and up to flow the water so that might be your problem??

yea half sized... i dont know if its b16 or sohc... but half sized
but it was about 70 today in md and i drove it all day... got on it a few times and never got hot.... so i guess it just had a **** load of air in it..... i mean i didnt really give it all she had because i dont want to cause major probs... just wanted to see the gauge move and it didnt.... im stumped.... and i just installed a skunk 2 throttle body and it sticks like a mother!

Is there a possibility it could be a blown headgasket?

I'd either try running some Watter Wetter or I'd switch to a full size radiator.

How? By that petcock on the upper radiator hose? Yeah, I did a search on "bleeding" but I only found a brake-related post.

greddy street legal turbo kits ain't all that great....u won't get anywhere with it. i'd go with a custom turbonetics turbo kit instead...t3/t4 stage 3 if you want to spool up fast, or a stage 5 if you want to pull hard on the long run.

My hatch did the same thing. The cooling fan wouldn't kick on, and the thermostat was stuck about half way. Its only like 4 bucks, and takes 5 minutes, try it.

If you can't figure out whats wrong with it, take it to get checked out by someone who can. It might be a little expensive, but it won't be as expensive as a new motor.
