hood prop
i have seen alot of u have your hoods propped up a little at the end more towards the windshield and i was wondering how u did it what u used exc ... i know that that is down in order 2 let more hot air out of the engine bay for better cooling i was wondering if it is an after market thing or something i can purchase at like pep-boys or advanced

I had to do that for someone before and was just biting my tongue not to make fun of him. I ended up making fun anyway
You need washers and different bolts.

Why would you want your engine cooler than normal operating temperature?
It can only hurt not help, let your radiator do what its intended for.

yeah the easy way we do it on the drift cars is ....
Washers (as many as you want for height)
& Bolts to match your lenth.
it should of never been a trend. althou Turbos are the new bling so why not hood lifts!
and it doen't cause that much drag on your car if more then a 2% increase in drag if at all. Flows with the windshield better now.

haven't you noticed that taking your hood off on the drag strip can actually increase you et times. no joke

I have this done on my car.. And if you live in Washington (or anywhere where it rains frequently) it's not worth it. I need to get mine back to stock.

The engine it's self won't run cooler, some of the other compoents around the engine will. it is suppose to help suck more air through the rad (and yes i know the fan does this......) might help for a cold air intake (not to sure)

Your air flow is not going to increase into your motor via intake because of this. And the only reason this will help at a drag strip is because your car is running hotter from racing it over and over.

well if air has the abilty to escape through the hood more air will go through your intercooler by trying to fill the engine bay. When there is more of a resrtiction like an oem hood more air is pushed away

it allows a place for the air to escape faster..... Instead of being trapped in side your hood and engine bay....
the air flows in throu the bumper and get heated up by the engine and sits trying to push it self either out small holes around the engine bay and under the car, or gets sucked in your intake, and out your muff.
this allows the air to come in throu yout bumper, obtain heat from the engine and leave in a more direct path out (almost straight) throu the hood gap just made and over the car. which id you really wanted to get in to the hard 'pyhics'... causing more down force on your car for more grip.

But also that extra air is getting blown straight at your block. Its not like there is a good stream of air flowing through your engine bay, it would just hit your block and tumble around then escapes out the top of the hood.

This doesn't do **** on imports. You guys can argue till the cows come home that it does. There have been many a threads about it. It doesn't do **** and never will for our little cars. Now, when you get a big 'ol V8 running a carburetor or 2, a cowl induction hood(what they are REALLY called) WILL do something. It will suck in cooler air.
Research it and you'll find out that making your hood look like it fits shitty is really stupid.

yes and no.... more current air from still moving will force the "tumbling" air out.
think of it like water... more water dumb in to a filled container will make the water poor out the easiest way possible... which in the case being hott out up and out the proped hood.
i am sure this could go on forever
