Default hood lock

anyone have any experience on a security measure like this:

http://www.jcwhitney.com/webap...10101

basically it's a keyed hood lock that also disables the starter while the lock is engaged. seems like an interesting ant-theft option, was wondering how difficult something like this would be to install...

Some drilling and wiring. Seems like a good idea. If you get it, let us know how it works out.

This is a cheaper version of what I have experienced. However, it will work well in conjunction with the stock hood release latch.

What it is is an extra release that you route from the hood latch through the firewall to the interior (usually underdash/out of sight) location.

It has a key lock on it, so you simply pull it down or reach to its location and un-lock it. At that point, the regular hood release is ready to open the hood normally.

If you try to open the hood by normal means, naturally, with the other lock still engaged, it will not open. Securing your engine goods. These products are usually hacksaw proof.

Right! But, it will slow down or totally detour the theft. More time in the car means frustration on the thieves part.

Good stuff!

cool thanks for the reply. i realize that little will stop a determined thief from getting what he wants, but this should be a good deterrent.
