hondata intake manifold gasket- will the d16y8 gasket work on the d16z6
ask the topic says, will the hondata intake manifold gasket for the d16y8 also work on the d16z6?

anybody got some experience with this gasket on either a z6 or y8? I'd like to know how well this thing actually works.

I'm going to guess yes since you can put a Y8 intake mani on a Z6 head. (not the 99-00 intake manifold gasket though, as it has the extra air injection ports).

i know that the IM's r different, but i also know that a y8 manifold can be directly bolted on to the z6 motor

Well it does bolt up, but the runners are a different shape. Only reason why I would think not...

I emailed Hondata a while back asking about the gasket and their reply was that it will work on all d-series motors...this is just what I was told not sure if it's true

The only difference between the Z6 and the 96-98 Y8 gasket is the shape of the water port, but they are interchangable and will seal.
A 99-00 Y8 gasket works on any Y8 or Z6 application.
But only a 99-00 gasket will work on a Y8 that is still using air injection.

it wont work. i used a z6 hondata intake manifold on a y8 motor and its leakin like a ****.

I would think that if it didn't seal properly then you should definately notice at installation. Did you clean all of the old gasket off when installing the new hondata gasket?
