Re: honda ecu chips (Padawan)
i defiantly wouldn't mess with the chip if anything you will just make damage to the motor

hell yea you can get aem intake only 120 7-8 horse power also dc headers only 180 and you can get a full exhaust system that will boost horse power by 12 to 14 horse. i wold go with 2' and it will sound very good

Re: honda ecu chips (Shaynepolevault)
don't by a cheap ebay turbo kit, even though its tempting. The manifolds are known to crack and the turbos known to fail. A few more hundred and you can piece together you're own turbo kit or buy a used one. http://www.homemadeturbo.com it'll give you some ideas as well as http://www.turdod16.com

$900 is "plenty" to put together a reliable turbo setup and have it properly tuned?

Ok .... keep reading fanboy. No magazine has ever been sponsored by a product and they would NEVER lie. PCM is owned by SuperStreet.
By the way, that was a 6th Gen EX with a D16Y8 VTEC engine. The OP has a D15B7 or D15B8 ... either way ... it's a far less 'potent' engine.

Re: honda ecu chips (Eran)
Get the "Mugen" or "Spoon" ones off of ebay. 11,000K rev limiter +200 WHP !!!!!!!!!1 OMG JDM!!!! one!1111!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!! Best investment I've ever made in my car.
Just kidding, they're junk. All they do is dump more fuel into your car, effectively flooding your engine and making you lose power and waste gas. Save up for a turbo With $900 you can easily make a home made turbo kit.
HF manifold and adapter plate - $70
Used turbo internally gated - $100
SMIC - $50
DSMs - $50
Piping $100
FMU/Chipped ECU/Hack - $150 at most for mgmnt.
DSM BOV - $30
Downpipe -$100 ?
Dirty cheap setup, will at least get you a 14 second car. These are just ballpark prices, give or take $100 or so! If you're planning to run on low boost, 5-6 psi, then you can get by with just an FMU, if you want to go higher, then you're just asking for it because of the timing.
You might even be able to find a used greddy kit for about $900 without having to scavenge for parts, plug and play!
Good luckckkkkkkkkkk

Re: honda ecu chips (galaxy2000)
u gonna spend a hell of alot of moneu on mods that arent gonna yield you any power on that motor. dont buy a chip, its not gonna do anything but hurt your gasmileage. if you want a fast car than u need to wake up and save some money for a different engine even a d16y8.
I GOT IT!!!!! u have 900 bucks. pick up a d16y8 block or even a d16z6 block and do the swap. ull be alot happier and youll already be making more power with the y8 than a modded d15b7. /

I've had a chipped ECU on a stock motor.
It yielded approx. 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000 whp gains.
What you are saying is a lie. Please do not lie.

i'm gonna go ahead and guess that if he is asking about buying a chip for his ecu on his d15b7, he doesn't have the fist clue about piecing together a turbo.

A good tune by a reputable tuner will generally cost a bit less than half of that $900 budget all by itself.

WTF! A full tune for a D15 on 8lbs? You on crack?
A short street tune would suffice just fine.

Why would the fact that it's a D15 running 8 pounds make a difference? How much does tuning run in your area? If he's looking to build a powerful, reliable setup (including tuning), he's not going to do it for $900 unless most of the turbo components are used ones obtained through ridiculously good deals at junk yards, and the tuning done is minimal. Even then, it would be tight.
