Honda civic swap scan tool questions
I have a 97 honda civic that had b20 vtec engine swapped in. In New Hampshire, so I need an Obd2 inspection done with the scan tool. It will not read as it it. Appears to be all obd2 wiring with a p73 itr ecu. Not sure if usdm or jdm, rectangle box. New to the honda world, any feedback would be great, thankyou.

Re: Honda civic swap scan tool questions
Get a USDM OBD2A GSR ECU (P72), and cross your fingers. How well it'll work depends entirely on the quality of work done by the person who did the swap.
The tune will require an OBD1 ECU, which you'll have to deal with separately. Neither the ECU you have now, nor a GSR ECU are "tuneable". An OBD1 ECU in your car also will not be readable by any kind of scan tool.

Ok, I will try that thankyou. I just need usdm to be able to inspect and then I can play with another ecu until next years inspection basically? ( best case scenario)
