honda civic rev/speed limiter.
anybody knows what is the speed limiter in a 1995 honda civic ex 1.6L vtec SOHC 2Dr is? i got pulled over for reckless op. the officer said that i was going 114 mph and i was going only 60mph in a 55 mph zone. its messed up, i know. but if u know that its less than 114 mph, let me know so i can request the specs from honda to show in court. thanks for the help and if it is less than 114 mph. this cop is really gonna be on welfare for the rest of his life.

Sorry to break it to you, but you don't have a speed limiter. That's still pretty rediculous though about the cop. I don't have any help for you. Sorry man.

well, it looks like i can't prove that my car can't go that fast. the only thing i can prove is, my car does not go from 0 to 114 mph in 35 second. it will be sweet if it did though. thanks for ur help.

thats a pretty big difference in speed from 114 to 60 or am I mistaken? I was able to hit over 120 when I had my hatch with a sohc vtec, took forever though. good luck with it .

Re: honda civic rev/speed limiter. (transpar_nt)
yeah, i know. people like EgGriff, i ignore.
anyway, so technically i can prove that i wasn't going that fast. i know, i got myself in a big mess. it was a set up. i'll probably call my lawyer and see what he got to say on it on monday. the thing that i love the most is putting a cop on welfare and let him be a lesson to all those cops that try to pull that kind of sh*t. from 60 to 114 mph, common man. give me a god damn break. thank u all for ur help and support.

that really sucks if you were going 60...but come on why would it be a "set up" i'm sure cops have better things to do then find innocent people to give speeding tickets to

Re: (EG93si)
I hope I don't have a speed limiter, I have the same exact car.....
Haha.....but anyways, I'd ask for proof from the cop and I would like to bring a physicist in to explain how it is impossible for a stock SOHC to go 144 mph in less than 30 seconds considering the amount of inertia and torque difference in a SOHC VTEC

Re: honda civic rev/speed limiter. (PurpleEKHatch)
the reason why i think it was a set up guys because i did some work on my car. exterior stuff. nothing in the engine. its pretty much a show car. but i remember 5 minutes or more before i got pulled over, i passed by a cop on that street and he didn't turn around or anything, and i was still going 60 mph. i hop on the highway and i do 70 mph on a 65 zone, pass couple exits, then he pulls me over. i didn't ask him but he instantly started explaining why it took him that long to catch up with me because i was going too fast. after that 4 more units come over, the guy that clocked me leaves, and some other cop gave me the ticket. i asked the other cop what was the name of the cop that pulled me over, just in case, and i got his name and badge number. but i think Metalluthier and 7808 r right. if he fails to show proof that i was going that fast and i don't think he can. the city will drop the charges and thats when i sue for personal damage. lets not forget that i'm using gas to go to court plus the cop wasted about 30 minutes of my time. i know its really nothing but i become ******* when it comes to those things.

Re: honda civic rev/speed limiter. (ibrahim82)
by the way, this is a question to all the good cops or ex-cops in that forum if there is any. how can u clock someone going 60 with a speed of 114, is it technically possible or does that radar have to be defected? and how can u proove that? can u use the video recorded from the police car's dash cam? does the dash cam record voice as well?

My CIVIC, in itself, is a speed limiter...
Ask what evidence that cop has that shows you were going 114 mph. Any other witnesses? Did the cop make a call-in when he pulled you over? What, if anything, was said during the call-in?
If you really were going only 60 in a 55, then grab a hold of The Truth and don't let go!

Re: honda civic rev/speed limiter. (JasonGhostz)
I dont know about Ohio but in Maryland if you are caught doing that much over they would have arrested you on the spot. I had a close encounter like that were I was doing 120 in a 40 and got pulled over. Luckly it was really early in the morning and he gave me a huge break. I would say get a good *** lawyer and try to get the cop to proove that you were actually giong that fast.
Oh yeah and I think the cop that clocked you has to be the one that writes the ticket. If I'm not mistaken......
Good Luck Bro

i imagine they could be "defective" like any electronic equipment can be, but more likely than being defective is it may not have been tuned properly.

well i have the same setup as EG93Si and i have had mine up quite a ways past the 125 mark.
I dont believe that any honda manual transmission cars have a "speed limiter" at all. The auto cars may have one though
