Default Honda civic 93 stereo problem

so i was trying to figure out why my stereo didintwork so i took off the panel and i was trying to take the stereo out to look at the connections but i didint knowi had to take out the entire dashboard.
well there was this red cable there w/ a fuse and that fuse popped. so like an idiot i direct connected them both and it was fine for a bit but still no all-speakers sounds im messing around a bit more and something popped and my stereo doesn't work

is my stereo shot?

Check the 7.5 amp back-up fuse underneath the hood in the engine bay.

see if there is a fuse inside the back of the head unit. if it popped, replace it. if your stereo does not have one of these fuses, then there is a good chance you've turned the hu into a relatively expensive paper weight.

sounds like a fuse to me or improper connections...and you do not need to remove dash to remove headunit just the piece with ash tray in it

i did remove the piece w/ the ashtray but it seems like the head unit is rack mounted/screwed in

if its a stock head unit then it does have a screw or two holding it down

try and just take the stereo and connect it direct to the battery (red to red, black to black) for a QUICK seccond to see if it will work, if it doesnt ur stereos done for, and u will need a new one.
