Default Homemade Intake

Hey guys can you please tell me how to make a homemade short ram or cold air intake for my 1999 civic dx. Please dont just tell me to go and buy an actual intake, i want to experiment and make my own for once. Thanks

Um, pvc pipe or buy intercooler piping. Do you know how to weld?

1. Purchase 3 feet of aluminum piping with a 3" diamater.
2. Use your dads mandrel bender, and bend it at the 1' section 45 degrees
3. Bend that same section 90 degrees for the throttle body.
4. Get an aluminum straw like piece and weld it onto the side of the intake for the breather hose.
5. Use the mix for plastic and make a 3" to 2.25" coupler.
6. With the same melted plastic mix, make a 8" 5/16" hose for the beather port.
7. Wrap chicken wire over your moms dish sponge and attach it to the end of the intake.
8. Use duct tape or masking tape to attach it to the intake.

Voila! Enjoy your +10HP with your home made intake!

get 4 coke cans, cut both ends, tape them up inline, and drill a hole thru your hood. add respirador on one end and the other end to your TB.
Total cost 5 dollar..

Just playing..
any kind of pipes will do, route it as you like, then all filter

i tried to make my own intake as well, its a pain because of the sharp bend required since the throttle body points strait up. Honestly, I keep seeing dx intakes on craigslist for 60-100 bucks used, aem usually. the fit is much better than what you can do since you are asking what you need to do it at home and you can't weld. a k&n filter will cost 40+ dollars new and you will spend at least 20 bucks on piping and hose to make it work. all in all it will be ugly, not as effective, and probably cost the same as a good used one.

I saw someone just add a K&N filter at the TB... drill a hole at the filter for the sensor...

well you can kinda estimate the bend angle from your throttle body to where you cant it pointing to where the airbox was..then you get clamps and those rubber connecting thingys(i forgot wat they are called) and you measure to size and cut..and add the filter..

ok i got it, and ive done, it, you wont gain anything and it will be loud as hell,

pop your hood and your see 2 boxes 1 on top of your engine with a tube coming out of it.
pull that tube off, and then the box thats by your fender pull that as well.

wait so i just leave the resonator box without a pipe in it? cuz there is a pipe attached, which the air goes thru it and where the fender is, there are 2 little holes where the end of it goes, i just take out that whole pipe....?

yep pull out that pipe, but if you pull that pipe there is no reason to have that second box by your fender, it wont be doing anything.
