home depot lip help
I got the supplies today, and was curious as to what you guys used to cut the material? I bought a boxcutter, and some double sided tape along with screws for mounting. However, the top edge of the material (not the rounded part) is not flat, and I need to trim the top inch or so off. thanks for anything you can contribute.

i didn't use double sided tape, just screws and it looks great, i can't tell you how many people has asked me what kind of lip that is, i just laugh and tell them they don't want to know.
on mine there was 2 sides, with the round part down, the back side had 2 lips on it and the other side was flat, so i put the flat side out, as for the little lip on the top, which is where i put my screws at, i wondered the same thing, but i lined it up and just screwed it on, i lined up the right side, wrapped it around to the middle, then on to the left side, once on the left side i used a sharp box blade and cut it straight, then i went back and added more screws, spacing them out equally.

i also used black screws, i think i used about 12-14 of them, i wondered if it would look good, once its on you can't even see the screws unless you get real close, like down on your knees, another thing is, the way its rolled up, its rolled up inverted, or flipped, whatever, so when you put it on its going to unrolled:::here is your bumper... ) and here is your plastic lip... ( this is somewhat of a Top View. so once you have it on, the edges flair out at the bottom, it looks kinda cool to me, especially from the front of the car, b/c it flairs out, but all of my friends tell me to screw it down, so its flat. but i've just left them flaired out.

My problem lies with the top edge of the stuff. There is this one edge on the top that is has a long ridge running along the length of the roll. This is the squared part of the roll in the enclosed pic.
I would like the lip to look as nice as this one does (pardon me for borrowing the pic of your teg)
I'm looking at how straight the top line is on his lip. That is where my concern lies. Did he fold this cumbersome edge under the bumper? Or did he trim it? oh well, thanks for your posts so far, its a shitty <$20 lip at most with all the extras I bought including a new wrench, so if I scew up no big deal.

BWAHAHAHHA, so I'm readying to do the project cause I get off work in an hour. I work at a car dealer, but my car is having trouble fitting on the lift height wise and length wise. On top of all of that, my cx motor is demanding that I give up on saving and get a loan for a new motor, and in furious rebellion just spit a load of black soot all over the freshly mopped floor of the bay. This should be fun. If anyone goes to the meet tomorrow at Fudruckers on El Toro, I should be there with the lip complete.

It really doesnt look half bad besides the fact that you use 1,000 god damn screws - and then in normal silver and not colormatched at that... I dont likes
