Icon2 Hit a CURB ! Tore sub frame Crossmember ej1 =X

OKay to make a long story short smacked a curb prety good in the ice comin down a hill. LOL ! I tore the sub frame crossmember. the wheel was bent in as you can see in the pictures.

OOPS

TACO style

This would be the peice I need to replace I can order it from the dealer for 130 bucks. I am also wondering if the type r crossmember same as this peice would fit since I herd and seen it is much thicker ... ???

How much do you think a body shop would charge to replace this crossmember ?

All the springs and shocks and a arm peices will be replaced just in case.

Has anyone had this problem ??? lol I dont see much on here for this kinda road rash. I am new to honda-tech and I am just lookin for some people that might now how to fix or go about this problem... Its been a few rough days since this lil curb inncedent ROFL

Here is the link to honda that shows the crossmember peice on there OEM site and prices.

Wow thats crazy. Ive never seen that before.

A guy I know replaced his himself. If you have any specific questions I can ask him.

You have to drill out 65 spot welds for it to come out so its prob not going to be too cheap at the bodyshop.

Drill out some holes in the subframe and it goes in.

Welded up.

I hope this helps.

Holy crap, I have seen them bend after hitting a curb or something, but never tear like that.

I am amazed the LCA or the bolts didnt snap, how fast were you going?

I am by far no expert here, but judging by the amout of spot welds that need to be drilled and re-done it will cost quite a bit to have done. I remeber seeing somewhere it was around $1200 in just labor.

i am not sure the speed control sensor was not working. I would say about 50 mph. Yah screw payin 1200.00 for labor all take this project on my self here soon and all post pics of the work. I can weld and drill save my dough.

That was just a guess by the company howver i would suspect it to be that or even more.

Should be a interesting project. Good luck.

Just make sure you have a good welder to do the job. I would hate to see you going down the freeway and the welds bust, that is a major part of your rear suspension
