After many months of researching, I've decided to put in bi-xenon projectors in the OEM housings. I didn't have confidence in doing it myself, so I sent them into hidtech.com. I just got them, and I'm about to install them... What do you guys think?

Sorry to say, but they look fugly IMHO.

looks pretty bad ***, i would have opted for a more round/oval enclosure other than that one would prob look better with everything painted black. so um how much did that run you?

Thanks for the honest feedbacks... That's why made this post...

I would agree with you that it might look better painted black. However, I really didn't want to stand out that much. When I sent them in, I asked them to make it look oem as possible. Once I get them on my car, I will post pictures. I hope some people will change their mind about these...

Anyhow, the cost of the retrofit:

Hella Bi-Xenon E-code Projectors: $149.99
Labor and Materials: $375

I already had D2S Bulbs ( can be had easily for about $90 on ebay shipped)
and I already had 50W ballasts(35W can be had for like $175 shipped). I also live close to HIDTECH, so I just dropped them off and picked them up (saved $50). I dropped them off on a wed. and they were done the same sunday.

Anyhow, because I had a lot of the materials already, the final cost of this came out to like $525. I don't think that's bad at all..

damn that's a lot of money.. you can just get an hid kit on a group buy for under 300.. I just got my friend a mccullough I think.. for 280..

That's the thing though, I already have a H4 HID kit, and the beam pattern isn't that good.. for a mod like this, that's not a bad amount of money. I think http://www.illusion-lighting.com/ will charge around 1000 for something like this..

Don't do that to some OEM CTR headlights. Do it to your stock ones. (Refer to your avatar.)

Thanks a lot! I was starting to think that I made a really bad mistake with these.. I thought they looked good. I'll definetly post many pictures of it installed and the beam pattern...

THAT kit would be garbage compared to the retro he has just had done... ...this is not even similar....

i love it and for sure they will look awesome (great cutoff with crisp light output)

They look good to me. $550 doesn't seem too bad considering it's custom and looks OEM, too.

Are they height and side to side adjustable?

Also of any seams created....

I think 375 is a little nuts for labor... you could (like others have) do it yourself in a matter of hours... it may not come out as clean (if they came out clean) but it'll work all the same...

Overall it's not REDICULOUS or anything though.... I would have spent the money differently though... but that's why it's your car.

P.S. I really want bi-xenon lights...

Oh and let us know (or anyone else with them) if you get hassled by the cops since retrofitting is illegal.

Wow, Thanks for all the input!

To answer some questions...

The light is still fully alignable using the stock aligning screws. I'll try to get some pictures of the back once I get a camera.. They did a really good job though. The rubber thing still fits and the bulb is directly in the middle of it.

As for the cops, I don't think they will really bother me at all. Any HID into a non-hid car is also illegal, but with the projectors, there's really no glare, especially with the e-code ones. If you mean visual inspection, you may have a problem in Cal. They're really strict over there.. I'll keep you posted on cops...

The company sending me the ballast forgot to ship them. It was supposed to be in by Friday, but now it won't be in till wednesday now. Damn..

I'll take plenty of pictures though when everything goes in. If the company keeps their promise, I'll post pictures wednesday night..

who cares how it looks, it's a VERY functional kit over the 'plug-and-play' available.. i was thinking of going the same way but it would be a bit too much money for me right now.. did you also have to fab your own wiring harness?

For the harness, I have the old PIAA H4 Hi/Low kit, so I think I'm going to use the electronics in that. I think it should work.

If you need a harness, hidtech.com sells bi-xenon harnesses for like $50 I believe.
