My Beltronics 985 came with a straigh power cord, which I ran up along the A pillar and along the headliner and I have mine on the suction cup bracket, fits right above the rear view mirror. If I'm getting pulled over I'll just yank it down.

If you can find the post, some guy on the board did an awesome job of hiding his V1. I'll try to dig it up.

I think it's on the ITR board. Someone hid it in his clock.

The Valentine One is supposed to have a additional display specifically to look stock in the dash. In all honesty, I don't care whether a officer can see my radar detector or not. So long as I am not in one of the illegal states for radar detectors I don't much care. I have had a officer inside my car moving it with it steadily going off, asked a few officers for directions with it going off amd some just miscellaneous questions. None have ever said anything about the radar detector. This was in Florida or Wisconsin where the officers didn't say anything about the detector.

This is what I posted earlier in a similar thread in the Member's Corner.
Check this out, I found it in the archives.

Pretty cool idea if you ask me.

K40 is the best hidden radar out and one of the best radars period, it is a little expensive but you get what you pay for.

I had an Unidan model once. It was ok but the antenna was up front hidden under the grill. no protection from behind. but I never had to worry about it getting stolen and I never forgot to use it (problem on frequent short trips).

I now have the Valentine and it is worth every penny. A remote mount V1 would be nice.

If I may ask what would be the real purpose of hiding your radar?

Prevent theft.

Most people have radar detectors sitting high on the windshield where any thief can see them just wlaking through the parking lot. So you have the option of removing it everytime you park your car, or leaving it permenantly mounted.

ok
But some people on here were making it sound like they were trying to hid it from the police.
Didn't understand that reason

Theft makes sense but

Hiding it from police = no sense

One of the Bimmer guys over on http://www.DTMPower.net hid the display of his V1 in the lower right hand side of his rearview mirror and used a One Way Mirror. Can't see the display at all untill it comes on then it is as clear as day! And it doesn't detract from the amount of viewing space he has in his rearview!!

Link to a website where you can purchase/special order the "InV1siMirror":

I guess it's that some places it's illegal to have them. Cops also take notice that right when they hit you with radar, your car does a nose dive.

you might get some pity from the officer and he might be lenient. If you have a radar detector that removes almost any reason for them to be lenient.

Yes, some detectors sense store alarms and stuff, as well as other radar detectors out there. You can tell what you're sensing by the color and pattern being emitted, so you'd know if it's a cop or not.

i have my'n hiden in my middle air vent. it cam with a sigeret lighte plug so i cut the end off and hooked up a little switch and ran the power to my fuse box. that way i can turn it off when i'm near a cop or if i get pulled over for somthing elts. i keep it on silent mod so i can just close my vents and you cant see it anymore. it's angeled just right so i can see it through the fins in the vents. it sucks living in va. it's realy humid and radar detectors are illegal here and not in the rest of the us.

Obviously radar detectors are not for everyone, but "if" you have never had one then that's also a different story. Some detectors get a bad review, sometimes accompanying the complaints of the consumers, I would say find a decent one and test it yourself.

The addition of a radar dectector influences some to be more aware of some of their surroundings.
