Default Hesitation? Driving Me Crazy!!

hey, i gotta '99 Civic Si b16A2. When i'm driving and i give it anymore gas than a light acceleration it hesitates for about 1sec or so and then it will accelerate normal, and sometimes it will bog if im driving at around 3000rpm's and then floor it in any gear. it will do this in every gear, no matter what the rpm is. it will do it in neutral too. when i am driving and pressing the gas pedal about 25% and then floor it, it wont bogg or hesitate. ive changed the plugs, wires, fuel filter, throttle position sensor, and dizzy cap and running 93 octane.. and ive cleaned out the throttle body, and it hasnt gotten any better yet. could it be my ECU, MAP or my O2 sensor?..... Whats wrong?

Check your timing with a timing light and see if it's within spec.

i would've thought it to be the TPS. sounds also like a timing issue or incorrect fuel mixture. checked the injectors?

my guess is when u give a sudden pop accel like that, its running lean for a sec and it could be that the ECU hasn't compensated in time.

well i ran it on a computer to see if it was running any codes without the CEL on, and it is showing catalyst not running good enough or something like that... but no CEL

Yeah I have the same problem, have tried the same things and more, does your ever seem to stutter while accelerating through 2000-3500? How can I test things that aren't throwing a cel? Maybe my cat is clogged too...

I have the same problem, I've also tried another tps to no avail, and the ecu has been reset at least twice already, still have the problem.

happened in my car as well.. I took the map sensor out, cleaned it out, and put it in snugly, and it had fixed the problem. driven for 100kms or 600 mi and not problems so far

try switching the ect sensor connector and the iac sensor connector. (they're the same connector)

My buddies DA was doing the same thing. We put new wires, plugs, cat, tps, and tried another ECU and it didn't help. I put another distributor in it and it cleared right up. Just a thought. Just have someone let you try their distributor that you know works.

Yeah I was going to try one friends dizzy because it's also a d16y8, but it has extra wires, I guess because it's a 99 and I think has obd2b instead of obd2a.

Tried another supposedly good dizzy, which started out running ok but as soon as I hit about 4k rpm the tach went nuts and then the car was idling at like 500rpm somehow.

on my MAP sensor, i got one of those adapters that raise it up higher off the throttle body, i was told that was for a turbo. im gonna take it off today and see if that changes anything, and i also heard that it could be my 02 sensor so im gonna take it off and clean it out today and see if it does anything. when i reset my ECU, the CEL came back on reading code 20 or 420 or something like that... i dont really remember. but it has something to do with catalyst or something...

I cleaned my o2 sensor earlier today, and it didnt change anything. I rewired the second o2 sensor and it turned the CEL off, so i think i fixed that. but my car is still hesitating/bogging like crazy. nothing ive tried has even helped it at all!!
