ok i have a d16z6 and i want to do a total rebuild but i am not to familiar with the d series only its bigger brothers. i live in ca and want to keep it emissions legal. i am thinking of putting in d16a6 pistons to raise the comp a bit but i dont know what to to with the head. and i was wondering what gears to change out to have a better all around tranny. it is my dd and just want a little more out of it when i auto x it..any other upgrade u guys think i can do and still keep it emissions friend ly. oh and as to manifold what is the better one skunk2, y8, or my stock on just port matched to the head and to my h22 tb.thanks for your help i am gratefull

and emission riednly n/a d series no matter what it is u arnt gonna get much out of it.. aftermarket intake manifolds and stuff are a waste of money.. jsut do a complete stock rebuild and get an adjustable cam gear.. when u go to the track just run race fuel and bump the timing to get some more hp.

and swaping gears in a tranny is hard and expensive when u can get a si tranny for cheaper.

I would bump the compression, do a port and polish, 3 angle valve job, stg. 2 cam, cam gear, and a header. The tranny, I would get a 99 or 00 model Ex tranny..

Or on the tranny you could do the hydro to cable conversion and put the Rare ZC tranny in ur car.... it has a 4.43 FD..

well i am doin the work my self i dont want to go up aaint a b seriesswaq in a drag i justwant lilo more tork and hp as far as teh tranny gose i am wondering what gears can i swap out to makeit better i have a si tranny already andi am goin to change out my syncros and bearing cause of some grinds and bearing nois but while i am at it why not change out some gears or final cause i want to put in a lsd as well..

I would put the steel forks and 2nd gear from the 96-00's in the si tranny.. it'll be a little better.. that's really bout all you can do unless you buy special gears... the 2nd gear in the 92-95's Ex/Si's is 1.900 and in the 96-00's it is 1.909

yep, the 00 ex trannies are really good trannies. I would totally run that one, I know my buddy had one in his car it was a good tranny...

s20 is from 92-95's
s40 is from 96-00's

hard to tell if it is a dx or ex though.. i could tell you how to see which one is which if u wanna know if its and ex or dx or whatever.

so where can i find a jdm lsd d series trans??

You could possibly find them on one of the online japanese engines stores.. But I don't really know if they have a d series lsd, I think you have to actually install lsd in the d series ones.. Someone correct me if I am wrong
