Default HELP Turbo clearnace is .0001 inches from my block!!! L@@K Picture

Hey guys, I thought I wouldgo ahead and buy myself a ramhorn manifold off of ebay... what a mistake that was, and the clearance form the turbo to my block is ridiculously small where you can barely even get a piece of paper between them. My question is, can I use anything in replace of a filter to get it to fit? Think it's worth it? You think I should just put my blox manifold back on? I'm looking to get around 350-400 whp. My car is a jdm b16 with golden eagle rods, wiseco pistons, unorthodox cam gears, aftermarket cams, ARP studs, turbonetics turbo, 3" downpipe straight to a 3" apexi exhaust, 750 RC Injectors, Greddy BOV, TIAL wastegate, ***Blox manifold...or the Ramhorn(not sure which one I should run so I would like your advice***, GSR transmission with Type R LSD, Walboro 255 Fuel Pump, and a P72 Socketed and chipped ecu that will be tuned next week over at Xenocron. What turbo are you running? I say if its not touching then you have no problems. The turbo should move with the motor provided the manifold is strong enough that it doesnt break.

The turbo is practically touching the motor. There's no way around getting a filter on it by any means. Is it worth my time and money to use the ramhorn manifold instead of the blox manifold? It's a turbonetics T3/TO4E turbo. Would I see a bigger difference in power from the ramhorn vs. the blox manifold? Thanks guys

Is the blox a log manifold? Then yes youll see big gains with a ramhorn. Read this: http://www.full-race.com/artic...p.pdf

As for the whole filter scare, just run a filter screen. I ran without a filter for a good while and never had any problems. Now the cars not daily driven anymore so im debating running a screen or not.

you suggest to put something in between the 2 mesh screens?? i've read a pantyhose or a t-shirt with oil on it. It seems like the shirt would restrict too much airflow, but I also don't want the pantyhose to rip and go through the mesh and into the turbo

can anybody suggest to put somehting between the 2 mesh screens or should I just leave it with just the 2 screens? I just took a picture of my actual car so check it out and let me know what you think.

Can you mount the turbo the other way w/the inlet facing the timing belt side?

use a screen instead of a ffilter...its better than nothing.

your turbo is hella small and the it still dont fit...that goes to show the turbo they built it for was smaller. ebay sucks for turbo manifolds.

Ah you spent a lot of money on good quality parts and then turned into a crack addict on the manifold?

New manifold ftw. Even a 200$ cast iron would be more beneficial in the long run!

Yea yo,i was about to say that,if you clock the turbo then you can have it facing the other way but clocking it isnt going to work in this case, try to put the turbo on the other side.

Then I have to go back to the old shitty downpipe that was on the car before. I want to keep it 3" all the way to the back. I'm just gonna use two pieces of mesh and hope for the best. And besides, with my luck when I flip it to the other side, there will be another problem that I'll have to fuc**n' deal with haha.

well if you put alot of time & money into your setup I would get a better turbo mani - that ebay **** is very questionable

I highly suggest atleast talking to morgan (@ synapse motorsport located here in upstate NY) - he guarantees his work

Do not think they make them thick enough to really help.

Unless you're talking about the gasket for the turbo, no one uses those

Ahhh ok ok ok gotcha!So youre telling me,that he doesnt want to flip the turbo because if he does then he'll have more piping and that creates less boost/slower spool up and have to cut the bumper?ok thanks for clearing that up,the whole time im thinking to myself..how about you just put it on the other side?... In this case you really need an intake because the turbo inlet is so close to the block and its hot so it wont get as cold air as if it was farther away from the engine.Would it be possible to cut that piece of the block right there?(Thats just an idea bu then again i have no idea what im talking about)
