Default Help with rust?

Hi all, I just purchased an EG hatch '93 VX. Anyways we did know that there was rust above the back wheel wells on both sides but didn't know it was this bad. Well I took it over to ABRA and they said that it had rusted through from the back and it would be atleast $1500 to have it all fixed. The back bumper is not fully attached on the drivers side and somewhat flares out because the bolt that connects that part of the bumper to the body, was so corroded (sp?) that the hole for where the bolt goes into pretty much rusted away. I was wondering if I could maybe do a DIY on this that would atleast let me conceal the exterior rust, and allow me to connect the bumper fullly back up to the body? Thanks in advance guys for whatever info. you can give me.

Default Re: Help with rust? (P!cKl3$)

if we had pics it would be better help

you might have to cut out the metal, go to a junk yard find the same spot cut that out, and weld on the new pieces.

me, i just bondo'ed the **** out of mine, and im waiting till the summer when i have time to cut it out and stuff, but bondo keeps the moisture in so it could end up causing more rust

rust sucks
