Default HELP PLEASE... problems with shaking over 95mph.

I dont know what is causing it. Just bought the car. I had the alignment checked and wheels balanced. Still shaking a lot as i try and hit 100+.

Someone told me it might be a caster problem.. anyone ever hear about this?

Any help would be nice for a newbie.

The best answer is to tell you to not go 100+mph.
Have you checked your cv joints? If they are worn they will cause shaking although it's usually at a lower speed. Something to check into.

I'd also say cv joints, especially if you get a lot more vibration during acceleration.

Do you track the car or something? If you don't you shouldn't be going that fast in the first place. To answer your question check to see that your wheels are balanced and that your rotors aren't majorly warped.

warped rotors will only cause side to side movement.. so as you go faster it doesnt affect the rotation of the wheels.

Caster can affect the vehicle as it travels faster if you have more negative caster.

Between what speeds does this occur? also post your alignment specs

You have no reason to go 95mph, so don't worry about it.

I'm still with him, unless the guy tracks the car.

I havent taken it to the track yet but will as the weather clears up on the east coast. As for doing the speed, i dont everyday but once in a while i do and am bothered by the shaking.

I have anrrowed it down to two things and when the money is here im getting new wheel (think its a bent rim) and a full alignment including caster.

Thanks all for your input, I have someone else's project car basically and i am trying to work everything out and get this thing to both a drag track and i am also looking to enter into some autoX events out this way.

Good thing you're far away from me, doing 95+ mph and shaking at the same time
That type of speed is meant ONLY for secure and closed off areas. With "sinfull" speed like that on the interstate you'll end up in a hospital, IF you're lucky.

I dont think its the CV joints, plus i had someone drive alone side my car and they saw one of my tires wobbling and it just affirms that i need to get my summer alloys on and throw away these steelies.

As for doing 95+ on the highway, yall dont know this area, i end up being passed even at those speeds. But honestly since it shakes i dont really get up near that speed to be safe.

once again thanks all for your input, gotta get this car ready for this summer, trying to go with a friend to a auto X at Fed Ex field where he and his WRX are competing in the stock D class.
