Default Help with P28 replacement

I have just started here and I need some info regarding the replacement of my ECU. I have read the Haynes book for my 1993 Civic EX VTEC and it states that I must disable the drivers air bag. In reading through some of the FAQs here I notice that this is not SOP for all work being done in regards to this unit. I know that the battery must be disconnected and other precautions must be taken. Please explain what the correct procedure is. Thanks!!

So it's pretty basic then. Just DC the battery and proceed.

ya, you just disconnect the battery, unplug the ECU and replace it. And actually if you really dont care you dont even have to disconnect the battery.
