Help me price my d16y8 for entire swap or parting out.
I have a D16Y8 from a 1998 civic 4dr ex. The engine has 110xxx miles on it and i just changed the timingbelt, waterpump, valveadjustment, and drive belts. It also has a new DC 4-1 ceramic header, aem short ram intake, new plugs, new wires, and a new dist cap/rotor. The 02 sensor just went out on it so i got a new oem one for 120. I figured it would sell it for 1200 plus shipping. I figured 500 for the engine and it cost me 350 for the new timingbelt, waterpump, and valveadjustment. And then 200 for the DC header, and 120 for the new o2 sensor since a new one from honda is 200 and then the rest would be for the other misc parts like the plugs and the aem intake.
I need this sale to help cover my CTR swap. I won't be able to do this until after xmas though.

Honestly I don't think you have half a chance of getting 1200 for that motor with 100+ miles on it.

oo man **** that, i say whole swap maybe 300 considering hmo has basiclly the same motor with alot less miles on it for around 600, you aren't going to be able to cover much of that CTR swap with that.
i would be extremly supprised if you get over 500 for it, it would be good for you but really bad for the dip who bought it from you

holy **** 1200 for that motor with 110k... where do i sign up?
i'd say sell all your aftermarket ****, then maybe the rest of the motor for about 500.

600 max, thats alot of miles, i wouldn't even put that under my hood, it would be a good motor to boost and resleave and put new pistons and rods in then drop it under the hood
the trannys go for about 100 to 200
The engine with that many miles 200 to 400, im going to say 600 bucks max
Part out ur intake and header, no one is going to swap a all motor d16y8 and think ur mods is going to raise the price 400 bucks, i wouldn't even use them, boost is where the y8 should be at

as long as you are willing to keep it for a while and wait for a person in need to come along, you could get maybe $800-$1000 at most. When I spun a bearing in my y8 I was desperate for a few weeks looking for a replacement and would have paid $1000 at most for that setup with tranny, because I was losing money every week on a rental car. I ended up getting a cherry 98 d16y8 with 40k miles and a 1 year warranty from the salvage yard for $700. I know I overpaid but needed the motor THEN. If you need the money now I would part it out. Could probably net $800 that way.
