help for a honda noob
i am starting to get more interested in the honda world and i see all these references on this forum to different engines and the oem setups for them. i was wondering if there is a website or even a thread on this site that talks about all the b and d series motors, like what car/model/year they came in. oem horse power and exhaust, all that good stuff. cause all this gets confusing as hell sometimes and i just one big reference for me to look over. and also i want to find some source to compare american and jdm models of different hondas.

I would just browse around all over Honda-Tech, that's what I did when I first joined and I've learned a lot.

i geuss what im lookin for here is an easy way out of spending countless hours researching. i just want a quick reference guide type deal. if no one knows of anything like that then i geuss ill have to spend some time reading. thanks once again for your help guys!

if in the future i decide to swap, what do you think i should put in my 99 lx sedan?
i would want something cheap and easy, but has good all motor power, and it will be easy to maintain and drive.

If you want something cheap and easy, I would either recommend a b16a or a d15b/d16z6/d16y8 and boost those motors.

easy to maintain would be the b-series. especially the b16a. hard to kill, even if it gets only minimal attention, good horsepower, addicting vtec-kick and many available swaps!
just be sure not to put the pedal to the metal as long as it's not warmed up
- but that goes for every car...

for a cheap and easy swap, I would recommend a ls or b20 longblock as they can be had for around ~500 and have a lot of potential. A b16 or GSR swap will cost you 3-4 times as more.

wow thanks for the great help guys. i seriously dont know anyone who knows more about cars then me. and thats pretty sad cause i dont really know much. cars have always been a big passion for me, so now im glad i got this site to learn about it all.
