Default Help: Crank Top Dead Center but what about cam timing???

I just finished rebuilding the bottom end and i put everything back together. I was just about to put the cams in but how do i know what the timing will be set at?? I know this is a really important part to putting my engine back together so i have to be really careful. The crank is at top dead center. I also put the cams in TDC but the exhaust and intake cam keys dont seem to be going straight up. They seem to be at an angle towards each other. How do know that the cams are set with the crank?????

They're stock cams and camgears. I'm just putting it back together.

First off, how are you rebuilding this engine with out a Helms manual?

Second, there are to 5mm pin holes that lock the cams in the correct position so you can put the timing belt on.

Yes i have a helms and yes i know about the 5mm holes to hold it. That wasnt the question i was asking...but anyways..i still dunno how i'm gonna get the timing straight so my valves will open and close correctly...

set em up where you think it's right, throw the belt on, then (by hand crank the engine a few time and, make sure there is no interferance.
Then check your valve clearances

Then what the hell are you talking about???

This frustrates me so much when you dont read the book.

If you're talking about valve lash, then say so. The instructions are so clearly laid out in the book, that all you have to do is READ it. If you run into problems with a SPECIFIC question, then ask it.

As far as I'm concerned, your inital question has been answered.

Lock the cams in place, then follow the instructions on how to put the timing belt back on and adjust the timing belt tension. Remove the locking keys (5mm allen key or whatever is close) and you're done.

Simple as that.

You want me to come over and do it for you???

The damn helms doesnt go through every detail. It tells you to put the cams in TDC. yes i did that...but the intake and exhaust arent perfectly vertical. They are vertical but the exhaust cam seems to be at 1:00 and the intake at 11:00. You get wut i'm saying???i know what your talking about ...your just telling me the **** i already know...
