HELP!! car wont turn off
Ok, I have a 1998 Civic LX and my girlfriend has a 1997 Civic EX. We were just at the mall with her car and she told me to drive home. I completely forgot that she didnt give me her keys. So I somehow managed (not knowingly) to open her car door and start her car with MY key. When we realized that it was my key in the ignition with the car on, we tried turning it off but it's stuck. So the car is in the garage running now and I need to know how to turn it off. PLEASE HELP!

Might be able to get away with unplugging the map sensor ...If not that then maybe starter ground ? Crazy story you got there though

Ok it's about 20 minutes and the car is still running. I tried unplugging the harnesses on the back of the ignition column but the car is still running. Where is the ECU fuse? I just want to turn it off safely. I appreciate your guys help so far.

up intill 1998 or so honda relised that 1 honda key could fit in another key hole if u try hard enough. This caught on to alot of people and alot of cars were stolen. Now that has changed so u cant use keys on other cars. If you do have to hondas below 1998 try and fit the keys in each other. May take some time. But my friend i think you just may of found out the hard way. Anyways i hope ur garage door is open; and try disconnecting the battery.

THANKS! It's off. Thank You all who helped. :Big SIGH of relief: For anyone who encounters the same/similar problem (unlikely) pull the fuse in the top left corner of the fuse box. Anybody got any ideas how to take out the key?

Wouldn't really suggest that to anyone... wouldn't it just lean out all the cylinders?

I've come to you with questions before, so I wouldn't see why I would stop listening now.

The car is off . As far as getting the key out, start pulling and wiggling. Then take a minute and pray that the key will not break and that goes for the ignition too.

Glad to see you turned the car off. I remember back in the day with the 88-91 civics you could do the same thing. I could start my buddies crx with my hatch key, but couldn't open his door. When one of us would lock themselves out of there car. Everyone with a honda key would try theres to see who could open the door. Funny to see honda stills retarded when it comes to key cuts.

yeah the same thing happened to me. i had an ef with a really worn out key, and it could start a **** load of my buddies cars. including, 89civic, 91 civic, 95civic, 94 teg, 96 teg, and im pretty sure it worked on a 94 accord. usually the ignition and driver door are easiest to pick. the pass door is almost impossible cause its not worn out as much. also i had a 91 ford escort and i opened two other similar focus' with my key. hope you got the key out. if you didnt, try rocking the steering wheel left to right while jiggling the **** out of the key.

I was under the impression we all knew how easy our cars were to steal... This shouldn't really be a big shocker to anyone.
I still think it's funny... Maybe more of a chuckle than anything.
