Well 3 days ago I changed my front rotors and and yesterday my car started making a lowd knocking noise on the passenger side which sounds like it is comming from inside the wheel well. Could this have something to do with my calipers or is it my axle? I checked the axle to see if it was loose but it feels the same on both sides of the car and I checked how the axles on my friends car felt and it was the same ( they move about 1/16 of an inch)?? If anybody has any idea what it could be, all suggestions are gratefully welcomed.

EDIT: So I found out where the noise was comming from It was the pins and bushing in the door hinge! I got my girlfriend to drive the car while I hung out of the window and the sound was comming from the door. when we parked it I opened the door and shook it around a bit and the sound was comming from the hinges!!! so we took it for another drive to make sure thats what it was and when I drove with the door open it didn't make a sound but as soon as I closed it the sound came back.

Does it do it while rolling, or when you hit the brakes? Or is it at other times?

it does it while rolling, I also noticed that if I roll down the driveway and hit the brakes it does it too.

This is going to sound stupid, but did you tighten everything back up to factory spec? You might check all the bolts first before jumping to conclusions. If all's well there, I think you might have an axle going bad on you. What year is it?

Its a 93 civic lx. I torqued everything to spec so I'm pretty sure thats not the problem. I'm going to double check that tommorow but i took off the passenger side wheel to make sure nothing felt loose and it seemed to be fine.

Did you bleed the brakes after you installed the pads?

no. but would that cause the knocking sound? i didn't think you had to bleed the brakes after that.

It might explain the sound when braking, but not while rolling on me

whel your guess is as good as mine. Tommorow I'll double check to see that everything is torqued to spec and i'll bleed the brakes.

Don't know what good it'll do to bleed them, but I guess it's better to be sure than take it somewhere and they tell you that's what was wrong...

ya i guess so, i just don't want to have to pay money to find out that it was something stupid. but on the other hand i don't wan't to take any chances that would end up costing me more than if i had it checked in the first place.

if i dissassembled my brakes and spun the hub and it was the axle that was going would it still make that noise. because if so that would be a great way to find out if its my axle or my calipers.
