Default help, brake pedal has alot of travel

I have a 96 civic lx 4dr with 150,000 miles.

Went in for inspection today and the front pads didn't pass so i threw on new ones quickly tonight. The pedal did seem to have a lot of travel before but now it seems to be even more. I tried bleeding the calipers but it didn't really help.

Any ideas or would anyone actually know why I would have a lot of travel in the brake pedal? Could it be the master cylinder?

Did you pump the brakes? If so, how far down? Sounds like the master cylinder is going out.

there could be air in the system so its not building pressure, try bleeding them
