Default Help with brake calipers!!!

Ok i want my 1993 del sol si stock brake calipers powdercoated... but before i can give them to the guy that is doing it he wants me to take all the rubber gaskets out of the middle circle thing... does anyone know how to do this??

-OR-

Would i just be better to paint them with like 3 coats of paint and then with like 6 coats of clear coat?? I think powdercoating would look a lot better though!!

Any suggestions as how to get that rubber out would be great!!! Thanks much... i need as much information on the front and the rear ones!!

If you want to do this right, you have to take the calipers apart and spray them..and just rebuild them afterwards.

Shoot the compressed air in the opening that the brake hose bolts to on the caliper... OR you can keep the calipers hooked up to your brake lines, remove the the caliper from the rotor and pad assembly, and mash the brake pedal - it will pop out the pistons (be careful!) and you'll have sloppy brake fluid spilling out everywhere.

That is for the back one right? Because the front one has like a large hole... does that all come out or what? It seems like there is just rubber around it but i only can get at half of that rubber! The back ones i will try the air tonight becuase that seems like it would work on those but i dont know about the front ones

I'm not sure what you mean. Part 4 & 5 are the caliper assemblies (front, but similar to the rear). Number 8 is the piston; it consists of the metal piston, seal ring and rubber gasket.

If you take off the caliper while still connected to the lines, put it into a bucket (don't hang it's weight on the lines) and press the brakes, the piston will come out along with the seal.

You will need a rebuild kit after this is all done, or else you'll be risking brake failure.

part 8 is the part that i need out becuase it is deals with the rubber gasket! I have to get that out so that when he bakes them to powdercoat them this wont melt... do you know where i can get a rebuild kit and how hard is it to rebuild them after this?
